For the second straight season, West Salem has been chosen by Central Valley Conference coaches to win the CVC crown.
The Titans, who finished second to Sprague last fall, received four first place votes and 32 total points in the exclusive Full Access Sports survey. Sprague and Redmond tied for second with 24 points and a single first place vote each.
South Salem was next with 22 points, followed by McKay, McNary and North Salem. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.
West Salem’s returning depth on both sides of the ball was cited by most coaches as the reason for selecting them to win their first ever league football crown. Coaches were also nearly unanimous in their belief that the race for all four CVC playoff spots will be hotly contested.
Most teams begin non-league games on August 31, with league play beginning for the majority of CVC schools on September 21.
