Players from West Salem, Sprague, Redmond to play in all-star game
by Mark Gilman

Five Central Valley Conference football standouts--including three from CVC champion West Salem--are slated to play in the annual Les Schwab Bowl all-star game June 21 at PGE Park in Portland.

Organizers of the Schwab Bowl have tabbed Sprague linebacker Tony Wilson, Redmond linebacker/running back Clayton York, and West Salem's Jordan Jenkins (running back) and Jordan Bishop and John Gallagher (receivers) to play for the South squad in the annual event featuring the best players from the 5A and 6A levels.

West Salem coach Shawn Stanley, who led his team to the state semi-finals, will be a member of the South coaching squad, headed up by Marty Johnson of state champion Sheldon High.

Gallagher (second team) and Bishop (first team) were all-state selections for West, and Wilson was a second team all-state pick. Jenkins was the CVC's offensive player of the year, while York nabbed the conference's defensive player of the year honors.

The June 21 game will kick off at 6 pm. The North has won the last two games of the all-star series.
