SPRAGUE
Coach: Robin Hill, 24th year
2008: 4-2 (7-3)-3rd place/CVC
Lost in state playoffs to Canby/2nd round

A perennial playoff team, the Sprague Olympians will be a little younger than normal. But that should not deter Robin Hill's squad from advancing to the post season in 2010.
However, it may take strong defense, a little creative positioning of talent and some imaginative play calling by Coach Hill out of the Sprague wing-T offense to have the team finish among the top two in the Central Valley Conference.
OFFENSE
The cupboard isn't quite bare, but there are no returning starters on offense from last season's senior-laden Olympian squad.
Senior Jordan Giza (6-0 190) saw plenty of playing time as an offensive reserve, and will be a multi-functional offensive player. Hill says Giza could play receiver, wing back and even quarterback during the course of the year in an effort to exploit his game breaking potential.
Quarterback Kyler Kelly (6-0 175 Sr) saw little varsity playing time last season, but Hill says he is a 4.0 student and a good all-around athlete.
Joining Kelly in the backfield will be the likes of fullbacks Robert Northcut (6-0 190 Sr) and Carson Hannibal (5-10 190). Junior halfbacks Andrew Mitchell (5-9 170) and AJ Vetter (5-10 170) look like key contributors to the Olympian rush offense.
At the wide receiver position, Hill is looking to junior Reid Gammon (5-10 165) to provide sticky fingers and good speed.
The Sprague offensive line is completely rebuilt for 2010. Seniors Zach Bishop (6-0 225) and Jacob Aimonetti (5-11 215) are penciled in at guard. Other players on the front should include seniors Matt Cuellar (6-5 245) and Brett Palmer (5-10 295), and junior Dakota Shelley (6-2 275). Senior Greg Ellis (6-4 210) played defense almost exclusively last year, but will be called upon to play at tight end for the Olys.
DEFENSE
Sprague's early strength will be on the defensive side, with a handful of all-conference performers returning for 2010.
Greg Ellis will anchor the defensive front. He was a second team all-CVC last fall. Aimonetti, a part time player in 2010, will also fill a spot on the d-line.
At linebacker, Northcut and Hannibal return after playing a reserve role last season. Brady Garcia (5-10 185 Jr) should also play in the middle, along with Lincoln Cook (5-11 165 Jr) and senior Ian Lamb (5-11 185)
Giza was a first team all-CVC safety in 2009. He and Gammon return with the most experience in what will be a relatively youthful secondary for the Olympians.
